Public squares are the pulsating heart of a community. More and more, new public plazas and transformed squares are emerging as a sustainable way to enhance urban liveability. They are meeting points, and urban spaces to hang out, play and connect. With this concept in mind and to rejuvenate Jamshedpur's most important Bistupur Market area, the Bistupur Public Square, a joint effort by Tata Steel and Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited, was conceptualized. An oasis in the busy heart of Jamshedpur City.
This Public Square has snack kiosks, two colourful fountains, a green buffer zone, separate corner for children, selfie corner and benches for people to relax while shopping and roaming around.
Main features of the Bistupur Public Square:
- Landscaped islands
- Water fountains
- Kids tot lots
- Food hub
- Avenue of trees
- Intermediate seating clusters
- Parking free zone
- Disabled friendly space
- Public toilet
- CCTV surveillance
- Uniformity in uncluttered façade
- Wide pedestrian movement space

Though the Bistupur Public Square was to be a complete package of entertaining and hanging out with friends and family and aimed to give the benefits to the citizens of Jamshedpur, the COVID situation currently that has seized the city has delayed the efforts of a grand inauguration.
We hope that in the times to come, when the city is free of COVID, the Bistupur Public Square will provide an impressive experience for all citizens and people visiting Jamshedpur. |
