On 18th July 2010 Public hearing was conducted by the Hon’ble Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Commission at 11:30 am in the auditorium of Swarnarekha Bhawan in Adityapur for the licensed area of Seraikela-Kharsawan of JUSCO. The public hearing was held as a process for determining the Annual Revenue Requirement (ARR) for 2010-11 and also determining the tariff for FY 2010-11.The public hearing was chaired by Mr Mukhetyar Singh, the Hon’ble Chairman of Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Commission (JSERC). The public hearing was attended by representatives from residents of licensed areas comprising domestic, commercial and industrial users.
The hearing began with the presentation by Mr Sharad Kumar, GM Power Services Division, JUSCO on ARR and proposed tariff and capital investment by JUSCO. Subsequent to which the Hon’ble Chairman JSERC invited audience for suggestion, objections and any other issues related to the filed petition of JUSCO. There were total 30 people who gave their suggestion for the filed petition of JUSCO. Amongst the known faces were Mr R K Sinha, Ex- President ASIA, Mr S N Thakur, President ASIA, Industrialist like Dr M Ram, Mr Rajeev Ranjan, Mr Binod Singh, Mr Inder Agarwal, Mr Bimal Singh, Mr Praveen Gutgutia, Mr Deepak Dhokania, Mr Binod Aggarwl, Mr S L Khandelwal, Mr Ramesh Khandelwal, Mr Lal Chand Agarwal, Mr Atual Dua. There were representatives from domestic, commercial and institutional users as well. Everyone appreciated the quality of power, reliability, availability and frequency of power being provided by JUSCO. Inspite of severe power shortages in the last 2 months, the power availability to consumers was far better than JSEB.
There were many initiatives undertaken by JUSCO last year to increase consumer satisfaction and enhance power efficiency. Few of them are:
- Installing SCADA and Intelligent Meter Reading (IMR) system in control room. This system helps control power distribution load factor across all sub stations and conduct power consumption meter reading from the control room.
- Providing additional bill collection centre at Adityapur. Also collection van has been provided that goes to different locations for bill collections.
- Installing of ATM machine at Adityapur. This machine will be installed at different locations in Adityapur where consumers can pay their bills through cheques.
- Informing consumers of shut down through SMS.
There were many suggestions given by the consumers during the hearing which was noted down by the Commission.
After the hearing the Hon’ble Chairman said that he would look into the suggestions given by the people present and the Commission would surely take care of it for the benefit of the public.
