Breaking ceremony for New 25 MGD Water
Treatment Plant, at Geonkhali Haldia was held
on 20 January 2009 at Haldia, West Bengal, by
Mr. Lakshman Seth, Chairman, Haldia
Development Authority (HDA) & Member of
Parliament, Purba Medinipur. The function was
attended by Mrs Seth, Chairperson, Haldia
Municipality, Mr Ansari, CEO, HDA, Mr Pranab
Das, Union President of HDA, Mr Sanjiv Paul,
MD, JUSCO, Mr Faizal Othman, GM (Corporate
Business Development), Ranhill Utilities
Berhad, Mr Manoj Behari, CEO, Haldia Water
Management Limited (HWML), Mr G S Basu, GM
(Water Management), JUSCO, Mr P C Shukla,
Executive In Charge, Water Services, JUSCO,
senior executives from HDA, Tata Power, Tata
Projects, Ranhill and JUSCO.
The Concession Agreement to this effect was
signed between HDA, JUSCO and Ranhill on 18
July 2008. Accordingly, a Special Purpose
Vehicle by the name Haldia Water Management
Limited (HWML) was created by JUSCO and
Ranhill to execute the project. The Concession
includes setting up of a new 25 MGD Water
Treatment Plant on a BOT basis along with
Operation and Maintenance of the existing and
new water supply system for a total period of
25 years at an expected investment of about Rs
100 crores.

commissioning of the following on Engineering,
Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis
• Intake jetty & pump-house
• Settled Water Pump House
• Water Treatment plant
• Clear Water Pump House
• Rehabilitation of the existing intake system
and settling Pond.
The
Company’s nine decades old operations at
Jamshedpur has been acknowledged as a

international bodies. In 2008 JUSCO’s efforts
in water sector has been recognised
internationally by Global Water Intelligence (GWI),
United Kingdom and Asia Water, Malaysia. GWI
has certified JUSCO as “one of the most
effective water service providers on the
Indian subcontinent” in 2008 whereas Asia
Water has conferred JUSCO with 5th Asia Water
Management Excellence Award for the year
2007-08. JUSCO has proved both the adages
right by acquiring landmark water projects
across the Country. In 2005 JUSCO was also
conferred with CRISIL Award for Excellence in
Municipal Initiatives under Special category
by CRISIL Infrastructure Advisory in
partnership with Ministry of Urban Development
(MoUD) Government of India. The awards and
projects won by JUSCO have enhanced its
credentials as the largest water supply
developer and operator in the country.
